What ISO 9000 Certification Means
ISO 9000 indicates that company management has documented policies and procedures to deliver exactly what the customer orders, on time, every time. It also ensures that management will respond to any customer problems and take corrective action in a timely fashion. Pearl Pressman Liberty Communications Group became ISO 9001:2000 certified on March 31, 2000.

What is ISO 9000?
ISO 9000 is a series of standards for the management of organizations to ensure that customer needs and expectations are consistently met in a timely, cost-effective manner. ISO 9000 represents a systematic approach to preventing all common causes of customer dissatisfaction. It does this by requiring that management documents its policies and procedures and takes corrective action when problems occur. Certification by an accredited Registrar ensures that the policies and procedures are being consistently followed and that they are in compliance with the ISO 9000 standard.

As of January 2000, approximately 29,000 U.S. firms have achieved certification. Worldwide, there are over 270,000 registrants in 143 countries. The number of companies seeking registration is still growing rapidly, although the standard was first published in 1987. Manufacturers hold the majority of ISO 9000 certificates, but service firms are beginning to adopt the standards as well. Schools, hospitals, law firms, construction firms and government agencies are among those using ISO 9000 to improve the quality of their services.

The ISO 9000 series was created by the International Organization for Standardization, which was founded in 1946 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The United States is one of 53 charter member nations and has several prominent delegates on the TC176 Committee that created the ISO 9000 standards. Over the years, the International Organization for Standardization has published thousands of standards for products to ensure they are interchangeable worldwide. One well-known standard is the series for film speed (ISO 200, ISO 400, ISO 600, etc…). The organization is dedicated to promoting quality, along with world trade. ISO 9002 makes it easier for companies in different parts of the world to buy and sell to each other. Our ISO designation is an indication that we have a management system in place to ensure that what the customer orders is what the customer gets.
